It's a classic cause and eventually a classic epidemic that any "empire" such as the US goes through as it declines. Its citizens get lazier and lazier and in turn think they are entitled to more and more "stuff", mainly because they are fed a load of shit that reinforces such mentality. We have a government that cues off that BIG TIME and uses it to their advantage. I assure you that the gov't people responsible for encouraging such a growing entitlement mentality know exactly what they are doing and know damn well that it will eventually end badly (well, except for them). It ALWAYS does - just look back throughout history for proof. Hell, look at RECENT history with Greece and the other southern European nations - they are excellent examples of what happens when you have a too many people becoming overly dependent on the government (both for work and "stuff"). I could provide a list of every major empire throughout history that has failed or become a shell of its former self and there is always a common theme present as to why they declined or failed. The US is exhibiting many of those themes today.

Municipalities across the country are going to be going broke left and right when that goes off. And that's not even counting what they're about to start doing to SS and the government health systems.

From the MSM reports, I'd heard the quote "We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam," and thought ok, fine, it's *plausible* he meant to say "during" instead of "in." But I had never heard the quote "When we returned, we saw nothing like this."What's his explanation for that one?!

I have to think that he is speaking for the "generation" rather than himself... I don't think anyone, especially someone in politics, would be so stupid as to make an assertion that is so easily checked.

I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution," Morton told the newspaper. The law, which criminalizes being in the state illegally and requires authorities to check suspects for immigration status, is not "good government," Morton said.Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said ICE is not obligated to process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.
All these people need to get in line.

for example... in reference to the space race "when we returned from the moon"
without the benefit of hearing the whole speech... if he was speaking to a group of vietnam vets, it's plausible that he would use that sort of language, IMO
