At my complex.
They have a really :tits: facility for an apartment building. DBs, benches, Olyimpic bars and even a cage and hack squat machine believe it or not.
I might end up joining the Y again, but I will wait and see how I like this setup. If anything, once I get back to pulling and squatting big, i will not have enough plates I don't think.

Yeah...I might have to shell out anyway...at least to work legs. Either that or just buy like four more plates and keep them in the apt's gym. How much would four plates cost?
Anyways...i am fucking sore and hurting today. What I did was more or less a full upperbody workout where I'd do like 4 sets for say chest (2 real light and stretching and 2 at workable weights) then do biceps, etc. Nothing scientific, i just wanted to get my joints and muscles used to actually working. I figure I will do this 3x a week (rotating between upper/lower) for 2 weeks or so until i start into the usual 3 or 4 day full body splits. It's what I did last time and I figure i don't need to get hurt.

I know DBs cost 50 cts/lb on average, so you might have to drop around $100 for 4 plates?

Our gym at school was pretty cool. All the equipments was old and worn out but they had pretty much everything. It got way too packed though.
They opened up the gym that the athletes used after 9 PM and they had like six squat decks and those rubber weights for clean n jerk. Also had a lot of old school machines that you don't see anymore, like the machine that works your neck that wrestlers use. I just went in there to act like I was an athlete. :hay:

the gym I go to when I get ready to compete is pretty old school. I still go to it from time to time, but mostly when I'm really training.
It has a lot of guys that are roided up and actually lift. :wired: But that also means a bunch of a-holes that love to admire themselves in the mirror. :uhh: The only good thing is that I use to train with a IFBB pro bodybuilder, so I earned a little respect even if I'm one of the few natural guys in there. :fruit:

At my old gym, Costa's, they had a neck machine and these PLers used it often. Dudes had like 18"+ necks and were 5' 8". I miss that gym because it had some serious lifters in there. The Bally I go to has some true lifters in there, but people tend to use the squat racks more for bicep curls than anything else.

:wired: I think I might join a cardinal fitness gym next to my house. I tried them out today in the morning, and I really liked the place. Relatively small, clean, and they seem to have so much more stuff than ballys (like chains / belts / various bars for pulldowns).
Unfortunatelly the ballys I usually work out at near my work will be a little out of the way when I move to the new office. :( Hell, I even had my own dazz werking out with me. :mhihi:

Not too bad.
Been doing "half body" routine every three days (upper/legs), just to work some soreness and get muscles used to working. I figure another week or so and I will begin the "proper" 4x splits like I did before.
Eating it going better, too. I already am sleeping and feeling better in general.

Hey toad - how long do you think the apt. gym will last for you?
Honestly, I can do about everything I need except legs, and even then, I could just go buy 2 plates (The apt gym has 6 plates) and use them.
Or heck, I could just load it up with 25s and 10s if I really needed weight. I'd never really need more unless I was maxing though.
I am gonna keep using this one for now. It's not at all what you think of when you think of "Apartment Complex Gym"
(Plus, all the hotties here are young broads in my complex and not 40yo trophy MILFs like the Y)

Well, it's not ideal.
- DBs only go to 75 (not that I need more right now, but I will)
- no leg press (only hack machine)
- no bicep machine...I have pronation, supination troubles in my left arm, so DBs and BBs...even EZ-curl bars do no suit me very well...I like to use the machine where the hand holds twist.
And the other aspect is "environment", it's a carpeted, "nice" place....not really somewhere that chalking up the hands and thighs and ripping off big deadlifts is the norm....but then again, neither was the Y.
I'll have to find strong reasons to not use it though...a one minute "commute" to the gym is nice.
