Having second thoughts about the rubber strap on the Chopard...might make the watch look too "cheap". I'm sure the jeweller knows a lot about these watches. Ask for his opinion. :ivan:

I used to wear watches allt he time... man jewlery.

but I just can't wear them anymore... I stopped wearing them, when I rode my bike a lot and ended up with a fugged-up watch tan... it went well withmy fugged-up sock tan.

I always wore metal straps, 'cause I am too sweaty much, and I'll jack up a leather band in no time... not that I'm very active... just sweaty. :(

also, maybe partly due to my sweaty, I can't wear cheap metalbands... the cheap ones turn my wrist green...

in college, I wore a handme down old (1980's) Rolex President with a fake replacment band that my dad's jewler found... the case and back were fine, but the cheap ass fake band turned my wrist green if it got more than a little moist.

IMO good choice on make...

personally I like the classic Speedmasters... I've been helping a friend's little bro with his student film... his dad has a couple Speedmasters (a Pre-moon wind up and a Snoopy). for the film he got a bunch of replica speedmasters and shot the crap out of some of them... in slow motion. I saw a clip... looked pretty damn good... the film used for the slow motion shots cost more than the replicas :mhihi:

anywho... I wasn't there when it happened but, aparently the dad really thought his kid shot up his real speedmasters for the sake of art. :mhihi:

I have a couple more replicas from the project, that were not shot up, that I've been trying to get rid of... some of them look pretty good. I tried to sell one on eBay, but it didn't go for much...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5052066167

Oh well. better than nothing. and truth is, nobody on the project wants a replica, me included. so I'm selling them for whatever they go for... :)

They make some fugly watches. I would get a Girard Perregaux or Blancpain for vintage (looking) watches.

Question with the leather bands.....after a while doesn't the band start to go to shit and start stinking from being against your arm?

Us white folk shower daily, so it's not a problem.

Depends on the quality of the leather. Should be okay as long as you take good care of it. Try not to get it wet or wear it when you know you're going to sweat. Get metal if you do a lot of running, playing sports, scubadiving, etc... That's why I like rubber bands.

You're going to have it replaced sometime in the future anyways.. same for metal bands. It gets all nicked and scuffed up. Metal bands get dirty too, but you just can't see it as clearly. DOOO EEEEET!!!

Actually I have never replaced a metal band. Scuffs are just a given with the metal band. Hmmmm, I may have to rethink or just get one of each.
