I have a working headset. I hate talking to people online though :lol: I actually turned it on for the first time during a game of GoW the other day, though ... I guess it helped to be able to tell people I was planning to run out of cover by myself and chainsaw two doodz. :lol:

If you bought it 2 years ago...then you would understand...but at the time it was the only game that groups of 16 people could play strategized military battles. There was no COD, and Socom play was on the lacking side.

Which is why I'm totally confused as to why this game is so popular ... PC shooters have been miles ahead of XBox shooters the entire time. Well true ... and I've moved away from PC gaming recently. PC gaming will always be ahead of consoles on the cutting edge (unless development dries up) because the hardware available will necessarily be better, but consoles just work.

It's just a lot easier to have everyone on the same playing field, so it's all skill. Also, communicating is easier; everyone has the same service, etc.

I pretty much stick to Team Slayer or Team Snipers. I think I'm a 20 right now on the 1-week-old account and a 2 at Team Snipers. On the old account, I was pretty balanced with my slayer, snipers, and hardcore ranks. They were all consistently between 27-31. I need to start doing that again. Though Slayer is the best thing to excel at, it's nice to keep your skills balanced.

I guess it was a router/modem issue. :dunno: I could sign onto Live, everything seemed fine, if a bit slow. But, couldn't get any updates, couldn't download any Borat clips :mhihi:, and couldn't join a game on Live. So, this morning I unplugged the router and modem for a while, fired 'em back up, and have been playing PGR3 for hours. :D

So, hopefully next time it will work out.

well during xmas time they gave away free one month trial gold. i made an id at no cost to myself. now that im paying so i can play and not use the main id which my son has used to get high levels, i made a new id.

we also have extra ids for friends and my wife to play when just fucking around so it doesnt impact the ranks or other players that think we all suck.

It's always 1000 for a regular retail release (a few games broke this rule, I think, but not many). Major expansions can tack on an extra 250. Arcade games can also do like 200 ... I think? I don't remember.

How they give those points out is entirely up to the developer ... which sometimes results in this:
