Light/Medium Grey Suit.

- Brown Shoes/Grey Socks

- Black Shoes/Black Socks

I say the former...brown shoes and grey socks since you always wear socks the color of the slacks/pants. Black/Black is fine too but doesn't look as classy.

Colleague, (Joe Idiot) says no way on brown shoes.

Who is correct?

I would agree with him, but I never like mixing browns and blacks. I'm sure there's a racial joke in there somewhere.

Wearing a Charcoal suit, with a faint burgundy/tan strip....wearing argyle socks that are black, with grey, brown. French Blue shirt with red/burgundy tie that has some french blue & white squares....do I look like the office idiot?

Speaking of office antics, my co-worker mixed one can of Wolf chili with one can of Spam....it was nasty! He eats crazy shit like that all the time and is in very good shape (or at least he is not fat)

And the suit is not charcoal...it's "grey" with no silver sheen or anything.

I say he's a fool.

"mixing browns and blacks"

I'm not mixing browns and blacks...I'm not a hitman wearing a black shirt and tie with my grey suit. Shirt is actually stark white.

All the google responses I'm getting say black too. But I swear I've seen dark-ish brown with dark charcoal and it looks good. Not sure about gray though. Where's ric when you need him...

Shoes for Gray Suit
Q.I was wondering what color shoes I can wear with a gray suit. I have been told black, but I have also seen dark cherry type color. What color do you recommend?

A.Black is best. However; cordovan (dark cherry) is not bad if the gray suit (sport coat, etc.) is casual. If the suit is dressy, black is best.

I think gray and brown looks fucked up.

See...to me, a lot hinges on whether the suit is "satiny" or has a silver sheen to it whther black is best.
