That's part of the reason why I hope the Revolution turns out to be something, well, revolutionary. People just aren't making particularly innovative games anymore, and I think a lot may have to do with limitations imposed by the interface. I don't care who the hell wins the console wars, as long as the games are actually fun! I got Battlefront II and Soul Calibur III for PS2 the other day, and while they're somewhat entertaining, I've already almost given them up and am playing all my old Final Fantasy games again (well, the PS1 re-releases anyway). :mhihi:

The control set of The Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle-earth II is as simple or as complex as you want it to be. You can get by with a general knowledge of unit wrangling, knowing how the zoom works, and the basic principles of move modifiers and bookmarking. But those that want specific control over every aspect of their squad can have exactly that with either a good memory, or one hell of a cheat sheet. Just take a look at a few of these advanced combos:

Because I live in an apt....where my main computer IS my powerbook.

I bought the black microsoft wireless adapter that came out with the original xbox. Still works with the 360.

I had originally bought a linksys...but the fact that I use a apple, plus a apple wireless base station, etc....the microsoft program on the xbox gave me a ton of shit I didnt want to deal with....but with the own MS adapter (of course :rolleyes:, its very plug and play and gave me access to needed settings that the OS blocks you from touching on 3rd party hardware.

So, anyway.....tell him to get the little white usb one MS makes for the 360. Sure its a 100 bucks....but it'll work right the first time.

Well, I've played Age of Empires quite a bit this weekend, and it's still pretty cool. They changed the gameplay up quite a bit, which they had to because a RTS wouldn't work well on a handheld. After playing it for awhile, I noticed that it plays exactly like Advance Wars (at least the combat portion of it does).

That's not such a bad thing - I loved Advance Wars on the GBA, and in fact was debating between getting the DS version or AOE. I went with AOE because it looked like the DS version of Advance Wars is exactly the same as the GBA version - graphics and all - and since I can still play my old GBA games, no need to waste the money on a new version. AOE has much better graphics - so it's basically Advance Wars with better graphics and resource management.

Overall, they did a good job transfering it to a handheld platform. Two thumbs up. As for Advance Wars, I'll skip this generation and wait for this to come out:

Handhelds are just for times you are away from a console/PC. I don't think anyone "prefers" them to a full console, it's just a convenient thing for car trips, waiting in airports, etc. :dunno:

The DS just happens to have different games ... no other reason, really. I have a GBA but only ever got like four games for it. On the other hand, I figure the DS will probably have some sort of Wii-interconnectivity that might be fun, so no harm in getting it.

Since Xbox 360 launched, publishers have been telling us the $59.99 price point for games was needed due to high development costs associated with next-generation. Gamers mostly bit their tongues and hoped publishers would show us where the extra $10 was going with the next wave of games, but Atari doesn't seem to believe the extra money's necessary.

In fact, Atari's gone one step further and announced Test Drive Unlimited will be priced at $39.99 for Xbox 360. "Innovation should be available to everyone, not a privilege for those who can afford high price tags," said Atari CEO and CCO Bruno Bonnell in the press release.

We agree, but wonder what the motivation is behind pricing at $39.99, rather than the previous generation's $49.99 standard. Could Atari be pinning its hopes on players wanting to download new cars, a feature Atari's promising monthly for Xbox Live? Does the lower price make you more interested in Test Drive Unlimited than you were before?

We've contacted Atari for additional comment, but we want to hear your thoughts so we can pass them on.

I played a game of college football last night at 2 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. It was the second game of my dynasty (using Ohio State) against Texas. #1 vs. #2. Texas kicked a field goal with 3 seconds to go to take the lead and I was so pissed. On their kick off, they kicked away from Ginn, which pissed me off even more, but Anthony Gonzalez returned it 93 yards for a touchdown!!! :woot:
