yeah, :repost:

but he's just acting out on emotion...
and pointing out what was bothering him...

hell, to be honest, I felt the same way about the situation in N.O. at times...

I wouldn't go as far as to call it a black vs. white thing, or a bush hates black people thing, but the idea popped into my head, I just didn't feel that strongly to continue the thought.

I say good for him for by passing up on the chance to look like a robot and just read from the script that was provided to him... he said what was on his mind... I'd rather hear that than all the time-filler words that the others had for us.

anyone ever stop to think that maybe the difference in response between FL/NY and NO might possibly be the local authorities? You think Giuliani was waiting around for the Bush man before he did anything? I think the angry black mayor needs to STFU and start looking at himself.

Right on Brian! It's called leadership, and the NO mayor has shown none of it.

Geez, can he get any more retarded? I mean, :wtf: was he even rambling about?!?! Fucker cant put together two sentences if it's not written for him on a cue card I guess? He was so upset that he had to go shopping and has to talk to his manager to see how much he can give?!?! :uhh: If he cares so much about this and since those are "his people", he'll give from his heart. :dunno: He just made Didy look like a mensa member with those remarks. :loser:

Anywho, that telethon was aimed and helping and not critizing. Which is what alot of politicians are doing now....plying the blame game. Who's to blame? Answer is everyone...from the top of government to the every last city official. But now is not the time for that. Now is the tim to aide and assist in whatever way possible. These people have gone through way too much and their frustration shows, but shotting and burning down buildings that are trying to rebuilt is not the answer. So can you blame cops for quitting and committing suicide after they are being attacked for helping out in any way possible? Can you blame a goverment for a slow response b/c of the few savages that "needed" to loot gun shops and open fire on hospital workers, cops and those trying to help?

It's sad that people in third world nations were able to pull together and respond much more positively after a major tsunami than citizens of the US. Sad, really sad.

I read an interesting article which basically said that capitalist societies fall into anarchy faster than socialist societies. Basically because the greedy, selfish people are rewarded by their hard work over their peers, and the same happens during a disaster.

he is just a fat man with a camera and an opinion. He hates Bush, along with many millions of others, and is taking advantage of an opportunity to bash him, although Bush and the feds are not responsible for evacuation, the state and local governments are.

I am tired of hearing people whining about how this is ALL the government's fault - people are so helpless and pathetic that they can't find a way out of a city? I know some truly could not, but don't tell me 1000s upon 1000s of people were incapable of leaving NO.

Anyway, this mess has been so politicized it makes me sick - instead of helping, people are whining and pointing fingers for personal gain. It shows how bad of shape the US is in right now.

Dirt McGirt
September 07, 2005, @ 12:11 PM
The NO mayor quieted down really quick since he knew most of this fell on his shoulders and those of the state officials. I heard one state offical on the TV say they they just didnt have the resources to get all of these people out of NO before the storm hit. Not like they didnt have ample warning or anything?!?! Where was the plan since they knew a Cat 3 storm could do major damage, did they think a Cat 5 would be any less harmful? :uhh:

Then there are the dumbasses that ride out the storm and bitch about not getting help but are still couped up in their houses and refuse to leave. What the hell can you do about that? I mean what do plan on salvaging or what point are they making by staying?

Adam_Schwartz
September 07, 2005, @ 12:18 PM
It's hip right now to bash the government - that is a fact. But truth be known, people need to stop being so damn helpless. When you feel nothing but pity for yourself, you come to expect someone else to take care of you. Not to over-generalize here, but most people were probably incapable of taking action on their own to leave the city.

couple of things...

The GF's mom is a nurse and the hospital told her she was essential personnel and had to stay. Not in NO, but Mandeville on the north side of the lake. well, then the hospital said on Sunday that she didn't have to stay, but she didn't have time to evacuate, so she stayed at the hospital and has been working non-stop helping the people who are there. she said the attitude of a lot of people who stayed was "I'm going to stay, I don't care, and if it floods and I need help, the government will come to save me." pretty pathetic.

also, o'reilly went on a typical rant the other night about the people who stayed. i'm not a huge fan of his, but he said it's not about race, it's about class, ie, the poor. the reason these people were fucked isn't because they're black, but because they're for the most part uneducated and unable to make smart decisions...not only about the storm, but about life. and if you go through life uneducated and put yourself in that situation that you HAVE to rely on the government, then you're going to be let down.

lastly, on Hannity & Colmes last night, some coon-professor of a university was on defending the people taking tv's and electronics. he would go on and on about how these people have been opressed by society and this is kind of their way of "getting back." but whenever they tried to pin him down and say "so you think it's ok to steal plasma screen tv's?" he'd dance around the question and say "legally, probably not...but morally..." and then twist it to "we shouldn't be talking about this, we should be talking about the government's failure..." Then he said "If we're going to condemn these people for stealing things they need for survival then we need to tell george bush to stop stealing iraq!" :uhh: the simple fact is that guys like this one, jesse jackson, kanye west, sharpton, are all making excuses for these actions, and these actions directly led to more innocent lives being lost since manpower had to be diverted from search & rescue to trying to restore order in the city. i wish some of these black "leaders" would come out and take a hard line against these actions, a la Bill Cosby, and finally tell their "people" to knock it off.

Good stuff saab...I saw all that shit too....playing the race card make me angry. My neighbor, a highschool aged black kid came over last night. When I was in highschool I didn't know a ton about politics, so generally I didn't have much of an opinion on things. He said to me last nigh that he thought Bush didn't care about those people otherwise he would have done something more. I had to remind this young man that his dad is in the service and can his dad just show up somewhere in 24 hours to help?

The black community is pissing away opportunity faster than the government can make rules giving it to them. Always bitching about how the man is holding them down. You know what's holding them down? Not the white man with money, no....the black man with money. Athletes and Rappers, that's all the average black man has to shoot for in terms of role-models. Does the rich black man reinvest in his community by opening businesses for people to work in or promote general education? Very rarely. Bout the closest thing is dumping some coin at the local stereo shop for rims and subwoofers.

i remember a few days after 9/11 on Opie & Anthony they were talking to one of their guests who was a black guy from the hood and they asked him if the crime dropped since the cops and firemen were so busy at ground zero. he said, "hey man...while the cats away, the mice will play" and said how a couple of "brotha's" were "taking advantage of the situation."
