I wouldnt buy it from there though. Print it out, take it to Best Buy, and they will price match that shit.

Price online is like 800 to 1000 dollars.

Yay or nay?

Actually, I apologise.

That's an XTI, the 10MP version. The 8MP version is the one for $600.00

I'm thinking that the website has made a mistake, they either have the price incorrect or they are selling the 8MP one.

:dunno:

Then again - If you have a good CC - buy it. You'll always be able to resell it and if it's not the camera you bought - you can dispute the charges.

bestpricecameras is a complete scam - they go by many other names.

www.resellerratings.com

Best Buy won't touch their price - you have to pricematch a legitimate company.

Dell had 30% coupons that worked on the XTi awhile back - they were going for just over $600 - which is amazing on a new DSLR.

BTW - I'd take zeroday's deal if I didn't already have a d50. The d70s and kit lens plus 2gb card is one HELL of a deal for $500. Anywhere else it'd be at least $750.

Actually zeroday, I have a friend that would be interested in buying this. Can you get me the shutter count and post or email me some pictures of your set-up? (You need an exif viewer to see the # of shutter actuations - just google opanda and download it - it's free)

Where were you when I was buying my D70s kit last month Zero? :D

zeroday
December 08, 2006, @ 02:39 PM
i just noticed these replies. why didnt you PM me? about the actuations, i've taken exactly 1,200 pics give or take 1,100.

ill see about getting that exif data. i have a viewer but may have to shoot in raw mode to get what you want. only had the camera for about a year and i rarely use it so its not going to be a high number.

Yeah - been crazy busy since I got back from St. John. Took around 600 pics on the D70s, which I grabbed in a kit at BestBuy.com for around $800. I have all the unaltered pics on my laptop at home - haven't really sifted through them yet.

No, you don't need a different lens. To take a good picture you need to know how to take pictures.

A $200 canon Elph can take great pictures, if you know how and when to use it.

she works at a camera store. and see's camera's all day, she says the build on it isn't that great. But she did order some camera that costs 3k... i don't actually understand why you would need a camera that expensive unless you are a photographer but hey, its her money, and she researches things so she knows what shes getting into

so i took a pic with the rebel XTi. i don't see what's so special about it, i think my sd450 i bought last year works just as fine and is easier to use. The only thing i notice that's different is that the corners aren't dark like they tend to be with my sd450. well heres the pic

Doesn't make your sister any less of an idiot. I know plenty of photgraphers that make their livings off of lesser cameras than the XTi. It's a great camera - sure the build quality may not be good as her Canon 5d and it may not be full frame, but that doesn't make it any less of a camera. And this is from a Nikon user :mhihi:

Question: Are you using your XTi on 'auto' mode? It's the user behind the camera...not the camera that takes the great pictures. Have you seen hafid's shots? The XTi is a couple generations newer and a significantly better in almost every way than the d60 that he shoots with - does that mean you can take better shots than him? Probably not... It's about the skill, not the equipment.

i just had my dog in the bed, and focused on him, and clicked. resized the pic and posted... i really don't have time to read the manual right now b/c of finals but after finals i'm going to find out what all the buttons and knobs are for,

^^ you may as well be using a point and shoot. stop shooting in auto mode, learn the camera, then criticize.

Don't expect the manual to teach you much. You need to learn on your own about composition, lighting, and depth of field. Learn how to apply use them. The thing that I hate about digital photography is that people don't even bother setting a shot up - it's like they think they're Rambo with a camera as a machine gun.

disgookonfiya
December 17, 2006, @ 12:14 AM
you are so right, lol. i rarely take pictures b/c i'm not photogenic and there's not much scenery down here, but when i do take a pic, i don't set anything up, just click away... it's ok though, i plan to take a trip somewhere, preferably with mountains (never really get to see them, unless i'm in vegas) and i'm going to try to get some good outdoor shots of me and the gf

Years of CFM exposure would have made my response a bit more... uhm... harsh. :mhihi: Glad spyder got to it first.

I agree with him. You are in no position to review or criticize equipment. But I'm glad you're going to explore it more before you discard it. The camera costs a fraction of what a professional full frame DSLR costs and spits out quality and results of the same grade.
